The Ohio County Community Needs Assessment Partnership (CNAP) has been operating for nearly three years with a steering team comprised of the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, WVU Extension - Ohio County, and the Ohio County Family Resource Network. CNAP also has an assessment team with members from 14 additional organizations.
Assessment team members are tasked with guiding survey and focus group questions for the Community Needs Assessment Survey, which assists CNAP in identifying specific issues that local residents and service providers believe are important to address. More than 400 surveys were completed for the 2021 Community Needs Assessment Survey, and six focus groups were held to discuss specific needs in the areas of health, education, and financial stability. A full report will be ready in May 2021, and its information will be used to assist a large number of community partners across Ohio County in planning for future services, educating the community, and leveraging and distributing resources over the next several years.
The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley serves Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, and Wetzel Counties in WV and Belmont and part of Monroe County in OH. We are UNITED in improving health, education and financial stability as a WAY to strengthen communities.
The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley serves the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and Eastern Ohio. Our mission is to create a permanent endowment for the current and future needs of our community.
Family Resource Networks (FRNs) are local coalitions working to improve services for children and families in their communities.
